(How-To) Show any BT screen from HTML & PDF

Use links in HTML pages and links in PDF files to open up the specified Screen within a BuzzTouch app. You can even launch your BuzzTouch app via another app! Perhaps button menu items may also work, I've not yet tried those. This technique takes advantage of the iOS URL Scheme to register the BuzzTouch app with a custom URL. For example, your app could be registered (on the device) with the URL Scheme of myApp:// From any app on the device or within the same app, a tap on the custom URL of myApp://myScreenNickname will launch the app into the screen with that nickname. https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/BuzzTouch%20URL%20Scheme.pdf This technique only works for iOS apps. I think Android has another method to do the same, but I have not learned it. Let us know how you end up using this technique! :-) -- Niraj

After some hair pulling by myself and Niraj over this very cool added functionality we found this little tidbit of info: IF you are using Acrobat Pro (can't confirm others do or do not have this issue) to create hyperlinks in a PDF, linking to a screen nickname that has a space will not work. Replacing the nickname's space with an underscore works, also replace that space in the hyperlinked URL. There are known issues with spaces in URLs and various Adobe products found on the Adobe support boards. Seizure Later, Tim

http://fokkezb.nl/2013/08/26/url-schemes-for-ios-and-android-1/ http://fokkezb.nl/2013/09/20/url-schemes-for-ios-and-android-2/ On Android, instead of using a custom scheme, you can also set up your app to react on standard <a href="http://" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://</a> links for specific domains and even paths. This allows use to make the experience on Android even smoother. Just add another intent-filter to the Android Manifest specifiying the URL of the webpage we’ve set up above. Now if the user clicks this link in the email, he will be asked if he wants to open it using the browser or directly in the app. Awesome, but you will have to deal with the singleTask issue! <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW"/> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"/> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"/> <data android:scheme="http" android:host="myapp.com" android:path="/view" /> </intent-filter>
