Can I transfer an app I started to another Buzztouch account/user?

Hi there I started an app in Buzztouch.com but want to transfer it to someone else. They want to continue developing it under their own Buzztouch.com account. Is this possible? cheers Campbell

@CDSmythe: Is this a self-hosted app? Jake

I do not think it is possible. How many apps do you have in your Buzztouch.com account? Jake

The best thing to do right now is perhaps email the team, I don't think it's a regular request and I would mention that most likely it can't be done, but if it's important, an email never hurts. David

Campbell, In case you weren't aware, when you selfhost, you can create the app under your account, and then 'Copy' it to another user account that you can create. So you create account "BobsComics", and Bob can log in and only see his apps. You however, as Admin, can go in and edit Bobs app, and Freds, Betty's and everyone elses you create. Its quite handy as a tool for passing editing to a client/friend/group. I wasn't aware of this flexibility until I gave it a whirl, quite handy really! IMHO, the only downside of self hosting is you see something released at BT.Com and you really really want it, but unfortunately it doesn't always trickle to self hosted quickly. (Plugins do) For me, Scringo was one, (since removed), but then I revert back to my BT.com account if its a necessity. My 2c,2p,2$ worth :P Graham

The nearest thing you can get to 'transferring' your BT Hosted app is to provide them a copy of your BT_config.txt file (without your API information, located in the upper part of the file) With that, and a little imagination, they can accurately recreate the app in their own control panel (provided they have the same plugins as you built it with. If they don't, then naturally that portion of the app will not be able to be reconstructed). If you've added files (images, html, etc) you can also download all of those in one handy zip file, that you can also provide to them. Truly, self hosted is the way to go. It's not a cure all, but it is a cure most. Cheers! -- Smug Edit: by the way, that handy all media zip feature is located in the media management screen of the BT Control panel. As you probably already know, the media doesn't come with the app when you package and download.

Hope you get it figured out. If your app is on Buzztouch.com, your best bet really is to recreate the app - assuming you need future support to make changes. If it's a totally offline app and doesn't need to rely on control panel updates, then you could just change the bt_config.txt file and not worry - but I'm guessing that's not the case.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone's actually managed to transfer an app to a different account without going through TOO much effort. Jeremy

Jeremy, The records of the app are held in several different tables of a database. So in order to 'move' them 'specific' records have to be exported, from different tables, and then imported into a different database. Then alterations may need to be made, depending on if any of the resources duplicate each other. It's a tedious process even when things go well. Cheers! -- Smug
