June/2013 App Annie Report Online

Looks like iOS App store revenue is still 2.6x that of Google Play: http://blog.appannie.com/app-annie-index-market-q1-2013/ I heard somewhere that Android is a hackers paradise, and that if you have a popular paid app on Android then it's only a matter of time before it's made available for free via jailbreak...maybe that could partly explain the bigger revenue on the iOS App store?

I think it's also an issue of the chicken and the egg syndrome. Developers know it's hard to make paid apps on Android, so they are more likely to make them for iOS. But the more that developers do that, the more Google Play gets slanted toward free/advert apps. And the vicious cycle continues.

I guess you have to use the Freemium model...try to monetize in the back end somehow...with interesting new ways to make money. Eg using special 3rd party API's like Scringo, or Google search, or?
