getting Application's data directory does not exist

Hi, I'm on self hosted and today I'm getting "Application's data directory does not exist" when trying to add content to HMTL5/Text screen. I also could not upload any file to file media. error below This app's Documents directory is not writable by PHP so this file manager will not work. This app's Audio directory is not writable by PHP so this file manager will not work. This app's Video directory is not writable by PHP so this file manager will not work. This app's Scripts directory is not writable by PHP so this file manager will not work. FYI, I have another apps which working perfectly which I able to add content into html5/screen with no issue. If the issue is file permission, why it working on other app within my self hosted server. any help or advice is highly appreciate. Thanks

Just a simple note? When did you download the BT-server 2.1.8? You might check with the latest changes.. Good luck..

I had similar issues with my /files directory and all resolved after resetting file/directory permissions from the host control panel, not ftp agent.

I don't know your host's direct admin control panel but in mine I have /files button in the main menu and when I am in the directories there is another button to reset the permissions. Should be similar. I would also suggest to try what @Smug recommends, since he is really great at coding, tweaking and BT efficiency. Good luck..

You can also set permissions via ftp. I use FileZilla, which makes it easy to do by right clicking on a folder.

Maybe try changing to different permissions then back? I haven't come across this before, so I'm not sure what's going on. Are you able to upload a file there via "FTP"?

Sure sounds like a permission problem, huh? Did you set permissions to affect all subdirectories? Strange that it just started happening out of the blue. May need to ask your host?

Agreed it doesn't make sense. :-/ I would try reinstalling to see if maybe that works. If not, though, I would call hostgator up. Not sure what their CS is like, though.

Sorry - I'm not sure what's going on. It sounds to me like an issue with your host, which is why I suggested calling them. But other than that I'm at a loss.

i'm pretty sure that reinstalling won't mess anything up. Just to be safe, though, you can always export/backup your database. In your cpanel, you probably have an option for myphpadmin or some other way to access your database using the web. In there you should have an option to backup the database. You can find your login details in the config.php file for your BT server.

OK..Finally manage to replicate the issue. It look like the similar issue happen to me after I install UserControlModification which I get it from Buzztouchmod. here is the link https://www.buzztouchmods.com/downloads.php?cat_id=2&download_id=16 Reupload the original files solve the issue. I will contact PSMDanny(developer) to further get the advice.

Feel as if I should put some info here, although it is 1 year old! I had this error moving my self hosted server. Surprisingly, it wasn't permissions. Instead, it was the root directory in config.php which caused it. At the old server, it was /kunden/blah/blah/blah (1and1) and at the new one it is /apps/btsrv/public_shtml. So, basically I just needed to change it to the new root directory.
