BT30 - Day 09 - Highlighting 5 awesome app services

BT30 is my personal project to contribute to buzztouch: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?fid=2348BA49BA5737C92E3D9B5&tid=2348BA49BA5737C92E3D9B5 Day 09 - Highlighting 5 awesome app services for you I wanted to highlight a few services/websites that I use for clients/myself that you may or may not know about. I know I left many out but I only have so much time to write, lol! #1. App.io (formerly, kickfolio) http://app.io This service is a-w-e-s-o-m-e. It lets you upload your compiled app to their site and then you can paste a link to your app for clients to play with (so you don't have to go through the horrors of testflight). You can literally load a webpage and use your app on this page. Some other cool features include embedding the app into your own website so people can play with your app before download on your own site, and another cool feature is the xcode plugin that allows you to upload the app directly from xcode into your app.io profile. #2. Place It - https://placeit.net An excellent online tool to let you import your app screenshots and make them look instantly professional! You can also cut the screenshot and use them in your itunes app screenshots. The only downside is to get super HD versions you have to pay, otherwise, it's still worth it for the free versions. I would check it out! #3. Fiverr - http://fiverr.com You probably heard of this. Fiverr lets people offer services for $5 that can range from drawing a picture off you, to giving you legal advice. A great way to use them is for app icons, or advice for app marketing. I've used fiverr for all kinds of cool things, including professional screenshots when not using Place It. Beware: They have services that do "reviews" for your app, you WILL be caught and your developer licence will be revoked. Don't do it folks. #4. Parse - http://parse.com Parse does Push Notifications. Parse has been great to me over the past 2 years, their integration guide for the code end takes two seconds, then you just do the certificates - it's so easy and fast! Once you do, Parse offers a plethora of features for your push, including fancy push, timed and schedules pushes, profiles, and more. #5. Olark - http://www.olark.com Olark is an awesome online chat tool. Add it to your site with a few lines and potential clients and current customers can contact you live from your site for questions, ect. They allow you to connect it to your phone, icq, aim, skype, msn, even gmail chat, so your customers can always contact you and you can always respond. This has helped me grab clients from my sites for users who have a question and pop open the chat. Highly recommend. Some other services/sites I use: http://p12pem.com/ (by @Jake Chasan!) http://getsocialize.com http://makeappicon.com http://www.pdfonline.com/convert-pdf http://filesq.com http://hostgator.com http://namecheap.com http://www.appannie.com http://www.freelancer.com Hope this helps someone, ask me any questions if you have them. Cheers, David

Re #2 - I used placeit when it was free for all. I searched around to find a free alternative. Nothing doing. If you have Photoshop, however, you can download actions from http://www.psdcovers.com/ A bit more work to add backgrounds, etc, but a similar result.

#4 / #6 (Analytics) I have begun using http://www.askingpoint.com. It’s a great service with a lot of flexibility for in app notifications, surveys, push, and more. Definitely worth checking out if you want some actionable info on your app. And their “For Developers by Developers” motto definitely should resonate with this crowd. Might be a good service for an built in integration… @Buzztouch Team. Additional ones (www.flurry.com + www.google.com/analytics)

Thanks David! Just tried #1 App.io Added the Xcode plugin and had my app in the browser with a password access in a couple of minutes. Not planning on using for a web demo of app based upon the slow response time (probably my connection). However could be a great tool to collaborate with others on UI design and testing issues that are not dependent upon response time.

Very nice! BuzzTouch may want to collaborate with App.io to give people quick feedback on their app without needing a Mac or Xcode. -- Niraj

No problem! I'm sure there is a lot missed, and a lot more to be found. :-)
