PHP version

What version of PHP should i be running on my self hosted server ?

On my network solutions host I'm running "5.3.29-pl0-gentoo" That's my 'primary', but am migrating to Hostgator. On Hostgator host it gives you a choice of 5.2~5.5, which is kind of cool. Cheers! -- Smug

I'm on hostgator and i see the options i can select from. so what to know if 5.5 is compatible with buzztouch

Last I knew, the older versions of PHP work better. I don't know if the problems were solved. I'd use the most current version, but if you have problems, switch it back to 5.3.

I think the only issue with newer versions (5.4+) was in the third-party JSON parser library David was using in the code. If I remember right, it had a short-hand version of a constructor that didn't play nice with newer versions. I believe that issue is fixed now - if not, it's as easy as replacing a file with a newer version. I don't think anything in 5.5 would break the software, but I could be wrong.
