Running App in the Background

Is there a way to allow a process to run in the background when a phone is running or has started? This is without it being left open in the window list. Any way to do this with options? I'm just starting, so I'm curious if this is an option. - Temoshi

Welcome to Buzztouch! A few plugins, such as PSM Danny's Audio stream plugin, allow music to play even though the app is no longer 'in front'. So I suppose the answer is yes. But I've not done that kind of programming, so I'm not sure how. Cheers! -- Smug

I am trying to figure this out too. I have a plugin that uses geoFencing. If the plugin is the "Home Screen" it will receive local notifications even when the app is closed. But, if a menu screen is the "Home Screen" then the app needs to be running for the plugin to receive the local notifications. There must be a way.

Audio stream? I wasn't thinking music, but more along the lines of a scheduled event. I tried an alarm app that you had to have the icon in the menu panels to work, but it would work from that. Perhaps that is what I need to do, is make it work when it's in one of the panels. I'm guessing that acts like a process (on Android), not sure about iPhone though.

This is not exactly what you had asked, yet take a quick look at these two articles from AppCoda: Working With Background Fetch in iOS 7 http://www.appcoda.com/ios7-background-fetch-programming/ Background Transfer Service in iOS 7 SDK: How To Download File in Background http://www.appcoda.com/background-transfer-service-ios7/ The Ray Wenderlich tutorials are also awesome!
