New iOS Tutorial Posted: Add Custom Image Nav Bars

Just posted a new tutorial to demonstrate how to add a custom image to your nav bar like I did in my Michigan Football app. You can view it here: http://bit.ly/OBBrVr

Wow, that is an AMAZING tutorial! Extremely concise...detailed steps with illustrations...easy enough for a novice to follow! This is perfect timing for a revamp of an app that I'm working on. Many thanks for putting it together! Mark

Got some errors back: "Unexpected '@' in program" and if you remove the @, you get: "Expected expression" Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Found a fix for anyone who is looking for it: When copying the code from the website or pdf, your quotations will be italic in xcode, all you need to do to fix these errors are simply delete the quotations "" and retype them - this will get rid of the errors. Sorry for double double posting on your thread @MGoBlue! Cheers! David buzztouchmods.com

No problem :) Do you happen to have PSD's for your nav bars, or do we have to recreate the layers and all that good stuff with just the sample images? Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Thank you @MGoBlue, another great custom mod to make your app stand out! I can verify it works on ios 4.2.1. I added both pieces of code to my BT-view_utilities.m file and no issues. Thanks again!!

Oh my gosh! I did it and it works! Thank you so much, @MGoBlue! I owe you one. I have an app that Apple rejected, and this will really help spice it up! This totally makes my day. I can't thank you enough.

Great tut @MGoBlue! I've been using this method to customize my apps for a while, but I never thought on putting a tutorial together. Congratulations! You know that you can customize the buttons on the navbar and the tabbar also? If you want I can send you the code so you can extend the tutorial on your blog. You can check on these apps (they are all v1.5): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/norep-motos/id451034898?mt=8 http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flamengo-quiz-voce-e-flamenguista/id500599738?mt=8

@MGoBlue, Some things I forgot to mention... I'm not sure if these code is compatible with iOS4, all my recent projects have been set to iOS5+ I've only tested fonts with .ttf or .otf extensions. Regards! ---- My apps: http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/tony-celestino/id451034901

I love @MGpBlues code. Puts another finishing touch on the app. Tony love that resort app with the woodgrain nav. Beautiful. Was just toying with a similar texture/look. I came across this tutorial when I was first thinkign about custom nav. http://www.merowing.info/2012/02/custom-navigation-bar-ios/ Have not had a chance to try that, and this code is much easier LOL. Maybe the new 'plug-in' maker toy will make it easier to try this stuff. IIRC there were a few screen in the UM app that had some ghost buttons. Hope you got that fixed. If not maybe this approach might help or make sense in some other apps.... He has some other great tutorials too. Either way, thanks again for the tutorial @MGoBlue!

Hey @ATRAIN53 The tutorial you posted is really cool but its a total different approach, and from what I saw he is using xib files, wich are not used in BT. I might be wrong but I think this tutorial wouldn't work with a BT app. I've sent some new codes to @MGoBlue and I'm positive he is going to test it and make a new tutorial with more customization options. =)
