Developing on 2 computers

I am halfway through creating my first app using buzztouch. Its quite a large app so far with about 500 different screens. I usually use my iMac but now and then I would like to sit in the garden and use my macbook. Can I just download the source file of the half built app on my macbook and continue developing the app on it and then when I go back inside switch back to my iMac. I know the majority of the building is done using a web site so could be done anywhere but I like to check changes on the simulator as I go along.

Hi @Deletion, Yes, you can do that. You will only be able to load on a device or submit from your original computer though. Well, technically you can also do that from two computers but it is a headache. What I do is carry the whole project (including files and images) on a memory stick so i can work on several computers with Xcode installed. Isn't it just great? Farcat

If you manually change the code, then you would need to keep updating the other version unless you network host it. Other than that, you can download the source to as many places as you want to. I sometimes use a PC to do the web changes, and the mac beside it to run the simulator.

I have used drop box too. It works but way slower. Just to clarify, download the source-code once, save it and use that version on the go (don't download the course code on different computers).

So as i have my original source code in dropbox, I could just open it from there on my laptop rather than re-downloading the source code from my self hosted control panel. You know I don't even know why I didn't just think of that in the first place. Thanks for the help

Correct. Just keep in mind that Xcode remembers the paths of your files (images, docs, etc...) so you need to save those too.

Hi Deletion, This is my workflow: 0) Create an exact replica of dev directories on iMac and Mac Book 1) Develop on my iMac/Mac Book 2) Upload dev directory in DropBox 3) Download to iMac/Mac Book 4) Pick up where left on the "other" computer. Regards, -Pancho

I work directly out of dropbox, saving and everything. That way you don't have to worry about ever losing any thing incase of a hardware crash. Helps keep things organized. Down side is internet connection if you're out of range, it goes very slow.
