I have a published app but need to change image names to get rid of dashes Will I have to resubmit my app to itunes i.e. recompile etc or will it update itself ?

If you are modifying things outside of Buzztouch, and they are offline, the you need to update your app via iTunes. In your case, it depends if the images are hosted online, or in your Xcode project. If you have changed the image URL online, and have changed it in the Buzztouch control panel, you should be fine, however, if you changed the file names in Xcode, then it will need an update.

I find that I upload images to buzztouch and they dont appear in the app. It's odd. But if I add them in xcode they appear.

Buzztouch just organises the images so in the next download, it includes the images. The more direct way is to add it in Xcode (as you did). For your case, updating the app on iTunes would be the only way to update the contents of the app.

So do I submit it again or is there a simple way to update? I'm not sure how to submit once the app is live It's all new to me

Hi Chris If you upload the images to your buzztouch control panel for your app, they will appear in your app if you reference them as URL's. If you reference them as filenames, they must be your xcode project. If you decide you absolutely need change the names in your xcode project, then you will end up resubmitting your project, which will be a repeat of the submission process, incrementing your release number. Hope that helps, cheers, Alan

Yes I've renamed the image files and archived and uploaded app to iTunes again At the moment the offending images are now blank - I presume that they will appear once the update is approved. Will it take as long as the first submission? Also noticed that the sub line on my menu pages has changed from my set colour to black - which I can't seem to correct. What I mean is the menu with image pages have the second line black instead of the same as the top line.

Updates don't take as long as the 'new apps' because it goes through a different department. Also, almost all updates are approved, because the app in the first place was approved. I just submitted an update about three days ago, and this afternoon I got the 'In Review' email, although I haven't heard anything for over 6 hours. Weird.

The images would be blank because your buzztouch control panel is telling your current app to look for image names in the downloaded project. These names would be right for your updated project, but not for the one you have released before, so that one doesn't find the images. Does that make sense Chris?

Yes I'm references the old images until the app is updated for now so the ap looks ok until the update. I've also found that an old version of my app seems to be cached somewhere as when you download the app from the app store and old version loads until you refresh. Not sure how to correct this one - wonder if my new build will have fixed this

The version of the config.txt that the app uses when you ship it is the one it uses on first run. It is not updated until you refresh, so always have that in mind when you submit an update to apple.

Yes, people would be receiving the old images until they update, but with iOS 7, the updates are automatic. Generally speaking, most people will update their apps if they see a little update number appearing on the app store icon.
