There is a difference between a free ibooks author developer account and app developer account which is $99 yearly fee

Have you previously submitted books to the iBookStore using that particular Apple ID? If so, you'll have to create another Apple ID for iOS apps.

Yes I did sign up for a free ibooks developer account and then subscribed to the full developer account as I decided to develop apps rather than ibooks

I wanted to submit a book to the iBookStore just recently and the supporting documents actually tell you to use another Apple ID for apps (or vice versa). I'd have to try and dig up the exact document that states this, but this seems to be the case. Nicholas

I had problems signing up for my developer subscription and had support from apple. I think the major thing they did not tell is that you have to have separate accounts for the free ibooks developer account and iOS developer account. I did all they asked even down to sending identity docs. It really sucks that they did not alert me to the fact that my iOS developer plan would be useless as my id is already associated with a free ibooks account. Will have to telephone Apple support I guess
