Update from a BT v. 1.5 to a BT v. 2.0 doesn't work properly.

Hi all, I had an app based on BT 1.5 that i wanted to update, mainly because of the changes apple made on maps. So I did a new project with BT 2.0, replicated the screens, I made a few changes to the project and submitted it as an update of my previous version on iTunes, with the same bundle identifier. App was approved yesterday but the problem is that when users update the app, the app doesn't open/load properly. It remains stuck on a black screen with only the tabs (it's a tabbed layout) visible but no screen will load. There is no problem with fresh installs. It's the first time I'm experiencing this issue and I'm quit sure I did something wrong in the project and/or target settings but before submitting a new update I'd like to be sure it will work properly. Do you have any suggestions? As far as I understood the update process, there are some files of the older version that will remain on the device and maybe this is causing some conflicts. Thanks for any suggestions you may provide.

I've had this issue as well while testing. I'm not quite sure either. Making sure the configuration file is consistent is key and something that I have done. But again, I've realized the same thing and not sure of the solution. I use autorefresh as well on my apps, but I still see the problem. I believe cache on the users device is the problem. So I have placed in the description in the app store if there is a problem to delete and download again. A hassle but at least they are notified.. Have you tried this:http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/cached-data-after-updates.pdf I just realized this pdf.. I had never seen it before lol. i knew it was something I wasn't doing right. Im sure this will solve those issues :)

Thank you for the quick answer @mysps! I placed that in the description too, but you know how easy 1-star review can arrive :) I've just read the pdf, probably that will solve. I've been reading also this http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/V15appToiOS6.pdf but I decided to build a new BT 2.0 I'll wait a few days because I've an update of another app waiting for review and I made something different in that update, so I'll check if that second app is having the same issue or not before resubmitting. Thanks again

Thank you, it's exactly the same problem that @birwin had. I searched but I didn't find that thread :)

I'll try to simulate the update with an ad-hoc distribution and iTunes sync next time :)

im thinking of revoking the updates for my 6 apps in queue. although its been a week there. i believe i prefer that users have an easy and streamline update experience than negative reviews :o

Yes it's mine! It was my first app here on BT But I've the update in queue for her twin app :) and I prefer the easy update than risking negative reviews. Especially after inserting the iRate classes in the update. I'll simulate the update and let you know @LeonG

I've just simulated the update from iTunes for my app that is waiting for review; I created an ipa file for an ad hoc distribution and the update worked. I wanted to do the same test on the app which is on the store but I cannot create the ipa of the old BT v 1.5 as I get too many errors in Xcode. I'll wait to see how the second one behaves when the update is approved and eventually I will submit another update for the first one.

I'm having this same problem going from 1.5 to self-hosted 2.0. Apparently it's an issue with the cached data. I looked through the other threads and how to remove all cached data, but I'm using @GoNorthWest's Notepad plugin and all of a user's created notes would also then be deleted. I also had an issue of an offline 1.5 app using old config data after an update. Both of these issues resolve after deleting the app and then reinstalling from the App Store. But again, this erases all of a user's notes. Fresh installs have no issues. It's a frustrating issue. I wonder if this could be related to the directory change from NSCachesDirectory to NSDocumentDirectory?
