I'm interested anytime in September other than next Saturday. I can meet up anywhere between VA-NYC. I'm open and would love to have a meet up as well.

I'd be happy to "host" something in the Fredericksburg, VA area. It would probably be cheaper lodging than other big cities in the area for anyone who needed a place to stay. I probably have some connections around here for getting a place to meet, etc. Let me know if there's any interest. -Chris

That weekend works for me. I'm not sure if its a little too close for people who need to plan for travel? @feraco: Does Fredericksburg sound alright? We have an Amtrak station if you wanted to take a train straight down (or you could be brave and take I-95 straight down, lol). I'm about an hour south of DC.

Sept 14-15 is a Sat. / Sun. Settle on this and I'll make it. But, I like the idea of giving folks a bit more notice...did we decide that @mysps can't do October? Can't remember :-)

Reagan National (DCA) would be closer and best. You can take the train directly to Fredricksburg from D.C. or car and it's only about an hour away

Yes, it sounds good. I'll start scouting some places to meet. I might need to know a rough count. 4 Airports service the area: Reagan, Dulles, Richmond, and BWI. BWI is usually cheapest, but really far away. Reagan is convenient as mysps noted for transportation reasons. I like Richmond if you're renting a car, since the drive to F-burg would be much easier than from DC. (Construction can be bad in the northern VA area right now). Let me know if anyone has any questions. And let me know if anyone is looking to book a hotel. That might make things easier for finding a meeting location. -Chris

I live in Baltimore, if anyone flies into MD (BWI)..I can pick them up and we can drive together to the meet up. I have a 4 door vehicle so I can fit 3 people comfortably. @stobe..count me in for the east coast meet up! Is this going to be a one day thing or an over night kinda deal where we're meeting saturday and sunday?

That's awesome Waystid Time! Nice to offer a ride, also! I'm good with either a one day, or Sat/Sun. Depends on what everyone feels like. I've got one location with a meeting room that has given me a tentative "yes", but I'm going to check out a couple more. I also realized that I have a commitment early Saturday morning, but should be good to go by 1:00-2:00pm at the latest. I don't think it should be a problem. Take a quick vote about 1 day vs 2 day, and I'll also have David post this on the top of the forums to try to recruit a few more BT-ers! -Chris

I've got a couple locations possible, and should have one picked in the next few days. Lets plan on 2:00PM EST for Saturday the 14th. And let me know if anyone is interested in meeting at all on Sunday so I can secure a location for that as well. Use 22407 as a ball-park zipcode to search for driving times, etc. But if you're looking to get lodging, contact me so I can tell you decent places to stay close to the meeting location. The sooner I can get a more solid headcount, the better. Looks like we have mysps, Feraco, Waystid Time, and myself so far. Thanks! Chris

I'm super excited for this meetup. I talked to David today, and he said he's planning on being here. I've got a location secured from 2:00 - 5:00pm, but wanted to get some feedback from the attendees first: We can either have a "Learning Session" type meetup, where I'd be happy to share some JSON tips and tricks for maximizing efficiency while creating Buzztouch projects. or We could have a strictly social type meetup at a restaurant, etc. My plan would be to have the Learning Session from 2 - 5, and whoever wanted to continue the madness to a dinner location, we could do that as well. I'm pretty much free the whole rest of the weekend. Let me know if that sounds good. -Chris

Nope. The place I'm looking at tomorrow is already reserved in our name, and its all no-cost. I just want to make sure its worthy of my "guests". And as noted above, we'll probably move the party to a dinner location afterward. I have a local Italian place in mind that has excellent food. They have a separate room in the back that I'm going to also check on availability tomorrow. If anyone has a different genre of food in mind, just let me know. -Chris

Here's a link to a google map that has several hotels nearby. I've heard the Wytestone Suites is nice. And my family usually stays at the Comfort Inn when they visit. http://goo.gl/maps/hU2T4 Stick to the area that the search is zoomed into (Southpoint), not the first few hotels in the list on the left (A, B and C).

Ok, I just checked out the meeting location and it will work out great. I'll type up some details tonight (address, directions, etc) and have them ready later tonight. The Italian place said they could hook us up with an area as long as we gave them a rough head count a day or two ahead of time. So I'll take care of that when I get a ballpark number. You're right @mysps. Shaping up nicely indeed!

Hi guys, I am new to Buzztouch and to app creations, but I really want to learn. I live in NJ (25 minutes west of NYC)and I notice you are having a gathering this weekend; is it to late for me to attend? Feraco, I noticed you mentioned that you would be driving down to the meeting, would you like to car pool? I could meet you just outside the Tunnel or the Bridge, what ever works best for you?

If you're driving in early, and it looks like you'll be getting in town way too early, the best time killer would be to one exit north of the meetup (Exit 130B in Virginia). That's where the huge shopping area called Central Park is (silly name, really - I think someone else already took it). There's every type of restaurant for lunch, and every type of shop (Best Buy, etc). After that, you'll be just one exit away from the adventure! As always, feel free to call me when you get in town if you're looking for something to do/see, etc. -Chris

@Bodacious I'm leaving from DC if you want to look for flights in Washington (DCA) and you can ride down with me on Saturday. I however, will return that night to Washington. Richmond and DCA are the closest airports in terms of distance to Fredricksburg.

Monterey > Oakland > Salt Lake City > Atlanta > DC > Virginia > Spotsylvania for awesome meetup > DC > Detroit > Los Angeles > Oakland > Monterey. Not bad for 38 hours. David teleporting over WiFi! So worth it, can't wait for the next one.

Thanks to everyone who attended! A lot of great ideas were shared by all. So great to see some "old" friends, and meet some new ones!

If any body that has pictures sends them to me I will photoshop the lighting and make your cheery faces look a bit better. Going off of Sues comment about lighting Joe

LOL. Photo #1 was the result of our waitress moving us around the room 4 times trying to find decent light w/o glare. Photo #2 was taken by David after exclaiming: "Now I'm going to piss off the waitress by taking a better picture as a selphie" (Hearing David use the word "selphie" was worth all the work put into the event!)

Hi guys, I have a question. I never bought or worked on a Mac before, but I know I need to to create apps for apple store. I found a Mac used with these specs (listed below) will this do the job? Apple MacBook Laptop Core 2 Duo 2.0 ghz 13" screen 1GB RAM 120GB hard drive 64MB VRAM Optical 6x DL "Super Drive"

That's most likely a "Macbook 2,1" which will run OSX Lion, so you should be able to run the latest Xcode. But its pretty close to the end of it's life. I would say go for it if its less than $150. Here's a link to a post I made about Mac gear, which belongs to an episode of Buzzcast where I give my recommendations on Mac machines in regards to developing, and finding the best bang for the buck. http://idevdepot.com/episode13/ Hope it helps. -Chris

Correction: OSX Lion was enough to run Xcode 4, but Xcode 5 requires Mountain Lion. (which the above Macbook is not capable of running).

That's not a bad deal. It's not a "drop everything and buy it" deal either. Keep in mind that's a 2007 model laptop. Still plenty fast enough for most dev needs, but just like a car, the likelihood of parts starting to fail start to rise the older they get. Batteries, hard drives, etc are cheap/easy to replace. But if the logic board goes, it's game over. It's too bad you didn't tell me you were looking for something while you were down here. I probably have the largest collection of mac gear in Virginia sitting around my home, lol.
