Glossary of programming terms

Anyone else doing the programming course @Kittsy told us about the other day on one of our webinars? Build your first mobile game from futurelearn.com. Not a huge time commitment for anyone who is interested: 7 weeks, 3 hours a week - week 2 has just started and it’s quite good so far. Here’s a useful glossary of programming terms which comes with the course https://ugc.futurelearn.com/uploads/related_file/file/2208/cee1b14871c777a2b4b9c210762e78c5-Glossary_of_programming_terms.pdf

Ooo, this is definitely something I need, if only to be more familiar with the words I "hear" thrown around on BT. =) Can the course be started late, or does it start again soon for new participants? Thanks

Hey there @CampGirl, you can still start the course now. The materials are made available one week at a time. It’s not a lot of work so it would be easy to catch up at this stage. It could become more difficult later on of course. I don’t know if the materials will remain available after the course has ended. Maybe see you there! :-)

I'll be doing week 2 tonight can't believe how many people are on the course. And setting up eclipse there way was by far more simpler than I had tried before

Oh, it's only for Android though? Looks cool but I have no Android devices...

That said... you don’t have to have a device. You can run your game on an emulator... if you’re still interested. This is what they say on the FAQ: No special software is required. FutureLearn is designed to be accessible on mobile, tablet and desktop. We’re actively supporting and testing FutureLearn on desktop on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. In terms of tablet and mobile, we support Safari or Chrome on the latest versions of iOS and Android tablets and mobile devices. We make best endeavours to support certain older browsers and the previous version of iOS and Android but there may be some differences in the delivery of content to users of platforms not outlined on our detailedbrowser support page.

Hmmm, I might look more closely at it. Moving this week, though, so I'm a bit distracted. I'll see if I can catch up!

I've joined, however at this moment, I'm more focussed on the Harvard course. Although my blood type is iOS, I'm willing to have a look at Android because this is something that I would like to explore and potentially develop on in the future.
